Ride and Event Calendar

Ride Guidelines:

  • Arrive early and prepared: alert, proper ride clothing, check bike condition, fuel tank full, tyres at correct pressure.
  • Riders ride within their own limits ("Ride Your Own Ride") and observe speed limits & other rules of the road.
  • Riders do not overtake the ride leader without permission.
  • Do not overtake anyone on the left (unless in a separately marked lane).
  • Tail End Charlie rides at a safe margin behind the slowest rider and indicates to each corner marker rider that they may continue with the ride.
  • At each turn, the 2nd rider (the one behind the Leader) pulls over and signals the corner - until the Tail End Charlie arrives.
  • Riders inform Tail End Charlie if they intend to leave the ride.
  • Visitors are welcome at Ulysses rides - please introduce yourself, and ask about our ride protocols.
  • New and inexperienced riders: please ask the ride leader to match you with a "buddy" for the ride.
  • All Branch Sunday Rides start from East Perth at 9:00am.

East Perth		 Picnic at Waroona Dam - with Richard.
  • Ride with Richard to Waroona Dam for a pleasant BYO picnic lunch.
  • Pack the sarnies, salads or the week's left-overs, fill the flask with tea or coffee and head out for a ride through the hills to picnic at the foot of the Waroona dam.
  • It's a great little spot we have successfully been to twice before.
  • The ride takes us up via the Bickley orchards, past Araluen and Canning Dam and up to Jarradale for morning tea.
  • Then it's on to Dwellingup.
  • From there we take a little-known sealed backroad which winds through some beautiful hilly countryside to end up at the dam.
  • If we strike really bad weather we can always drop down to the pub in Waroona for lunch.
  • Return will be via SW Highway.

East Perth		 THREE BEE's RIDE - BEVERLEY, BROOKTON & BODDINGTON
  • Steve's 3 Bs Ride: Beverley, Brookton and Boddington
  • Explore some of the great back roads east of Perth on this ride up and over the Darling Ranges.
  • A bit of Highway to Westdale then along beside the Dale River to Beverley.
  • After morning tea down the highway to Pingelly then head west cross country to Boddington for Lunch.
  • Then back over the range to Dwellingup, and on through the forrest to North Dandalup to rejoin the highway to Armadale.
  • Round trip around 400km.

  • Proceed to Midvale, east on Great Eastern Highway, north on Northam/Pithara Road
  • Approximate distance: 142 km one way or 284 return.
  • Part of: Open Garden Australia programme, Dadd's Eremophila Garden.
  • Located 35 km north of Northam on the Northam/Pithara Road. Turn right off the Northam/Pithara Road as heading north. Look for the green flags
  • Coffee stop at Grass Valley.
  • Scones, soups, sandwiches and slices available at Dadd's. Alternatively, bring a picnic lunch.

East Perth		 Annual Ulysses Memorial Ride
  • Ulysses Branches round the country, indeed round the world, dedicate the 2nd Sunday in September each year as a day of remembrance for those members who have "Ridden On". In most cases this is done in practice by all the Ulysses branches in a given area jointly or independently riding to a place where a short ceremony is conducted to honour those members. The tradition in the greater Perth area is for branches from as far north as Geraldton and as far south as Bunbury and as far east as Kalgoorlie to ride to the park at Lake Leschenaltia, Rosedale Road, Chidlow. There, someone conducts a short memorial service by the banks of the lake, at a monument dedicated by those branches as a permantent marker for this purpose.
  • Note: the parklands surrounding Lake Leschenaltia are administered by the Shire of Mundaring. The shire charges an entry fee to enter the grounds. Someone designated by the ride coordinator will often collect the entry fee at the start of the ride and the "treasurer" for the event will pay for the group to expedite entry.
  • Logistics:
  • For Perth Branch: depart East Perth ~ 9 am, arrive Midland ~ 9:45 am.
  • 9 am to 10:15am -- Branches assemble Cale Street, Midland (click for map)
  • ~ 10:30 am -- Depart Midland
  • ~ 11 am -- Arrive Lake Leschenaultia
  • 11.30am -- Service
  • 12 noon - Lunch

  • The party will then continue at the Pinjarra Hotel for lunch, after a leisurly ride via Jarrahdale.
  • Total distance for the day will be around 300km.

  • The Odyssey will be held at Club Capricorn in Yanchep.
  • The resort has motel rooms, chalets, and caravan & tent sites.
  • The Yanchep Lions Club will prepare the breakfast on Sat, Sun & Mon and also the evening meals on Sat & Sun.
  • All meals will be optional, and will be booked and paid for when you register.
  • The registration fee will be kept to a bare minimum and will include a cloth patch only.
